What is Hermes?

Hermes is an AI writing workspace for novelists and storytellers. It combines project organization with Shared Pen co-writing, autocomplete, rewrites, AI chat, and writing style guidance.

How much does Hermes Pro cost?

New Pro subscriptions cost $12 USD per month. The standard plan includes 250,000 words of AI usage per monthly billing period. Existing subscribers may have legacy pricing; Manage billing shows the price for their subscription.

How does the free trial work?

Eligible users who have not used a trial can start a 7-day Pro trial through checkout. A payment method is required. The subscription converts to paid billing after the trial unless canceled. You can manage cancellation through Manage billing in account settings.

Are AI words unlimited?

No. Pro has a standard 250,000-word monthly allowance. AI usage is estimated from token counts; it is separate from words you type yourself. Account overrides and purchased credits can change your available allowance. Pro users can purchase an additional 50,000 words for $5 USD. Check your account usage for your current balance.

How does Hermes use my writing style?

Hermes analyzes writing characteristics such as sentence patterns, vocabulary, point of view, tense, and tone. You can set general writing guidelines and override them for a project. These guide AI suggestions, but results still need your review and may not always match your intent.

Can I export my manuscript?

Yes. The project export menu offers PDF, DOCX, EPUB, HTML, and TXT. You can select the whole project or specific sections and review the available export options.

How is my writing processed by AI?

Using AI features sends content to third-party AI providers through OpenRouter, as described in the Hermes privacy policy. Providers have their own data-handling practices. Review the policy and linked provider policies before submitting sensitive material.

Is the homepage demo a live AI request?

No. The interactive demo uses prewritten examples to demonstrate the workflow. It does not need an account or send a request to an AI provider. Results in your own projects will vary.
